The 1st liberated governmental organization: Belgian Ministry of Social Security

Can the liberated company philosophy work in governmental organizations? Aren’t public services an equivalent of bureaucracy and rigidity?

Of course, the Special Forces for a long time, and the Navy most recently (see David Marquet liberating a nuclear submarine) have proven that freedom and responsibility of initiative can work in governmental—military—units. But can it work in a ministry?

Watch this liberation story told by Frank Van Massenhove, head of the Belgian Ministry of Social Security, which went, since 2004, in a couple of years from worst to first—exactly as David Marquet’s submarine.
